Here are all the top places to celebrate Independence Day right here in our area — from live music to big booms in the sky. Let’s make it a Fourth to remember!



🎆 Downtown Fireworks at Smothers Park


This is the place to be for classic 4th of July fun on the riverfront.Here’s what to expect:

  • Live music kicks off at 5 PM with Flat Stanley and The Downtown Band

  • Fireworks begin around 9:15 PM and are synchronized to a music broadcast on 92.5 WBKR

  • Bring your lawn chairs or blanket and get there early — the riverfront fills up fast!


🌭 Citywide Fireworks — 4 Locations Across Town


If you’re not headed downtown, no worries! Owensboro will have four fireworks shows happening at the same time so you can watch from wherever you are in the city.

Fireworks will be launched from:

  • Southern Little League Fields

  • Owensboro Sportscenter / Moreland Park

  • The former GE plant (Owensboro Warehouse Leasing)

  • Downtown Riverfront

These all go off around 9:15 PM and you’ll be able to hear the coordinating music on 92.5 WBKR. It’s perfect for those wanting to skip the downtown crowds but still enjoy a big show.



🍔 4th Fest at the Owensboro Convention Center


If you’re looking for a full evening of fun, head to the Convention Center for 4th Fest!

Here’s what’s happening:

  • Activities start at 5 PM with inflatables, climbing walls, and kid-friendly games

  • Food, drinks, and multiple ticket options — including VIP areas with food and premium fireworks views

  • Fireworks start around 9:15 PM

Ticket options range from $10 general admission to $35 for an All-American buffet ticket. VIP tables are available for groups too.


🎉 Fireworks at Yellow Creek Park – July 3rd

If you want to kick off your holiday a little early, head to Yellow Creek Park on Wednesday, July 3rd for another round of fireworks fun.

You’ll find:

  • Pony rides and family fun

  • Live music

  • Food trucks

  • Fireworks launching over the lake at dusk (~8:45 PM)

This is a great way to celebrate a little early and avoid the larger 4th crowds if you’ve got younger kiddos or a packed schedule.



A Few Tips Before You Go

  • Bring chairs, bug spray, and drinks/snacks if you’re heading outdoors

  • Tune in to 92.5 WBKR for the official fireworks soundtrack

  • Plan to arrive early — parking fills up quickly at most of the major locations
